Sheamus meets children from Gragson Elementary School in Las Vegas. Oct. 3 was The Pearson Foundation and Jumpstart’s Read for the Record event, where millions of people across the country read the children’s book "Otis" by Loren Long. Jennifer Malchiodi of We Give Books kicks off the event. The Read for the Record event supports Jumpstart’s mission to work toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. The Pearson Foundation and Jumpstart will soon announce the official record-breaking number of reads. Sheamus reads "Otis" to more than 160 elementary schoolers. Along with Malchiodi, Sheamus leads a mask-making activity with the kids. Sheamus and Malchiodi talk to the children about the important message of friendship in "Otis." "I know a great way to be a good friend," Sheamus says, then asks the children the ways to be a good friend. Sheamus helps distribute "Otis" books to the kids.
