Big Show, Kofi Kingston, WWE Community Ambassador Dana Warrior, and NXT Superstars Jessica Elaban and Brennan Williams hosted a Reading Celebration at Woodland West Elementary School in New Orleans on Read Across America Day on Friday, March 2, which is also Dr. Seuss' birthday.
To celebrate Read Across America Day in support of the WrestleMania Reading Challenge in New Orleans, the Superstars read "Trombone Shorty" to 300 students. "Trombone Shorty" is a story about New Orleans musician Troy Andrew. WWE also donated 1,000 books to the school, and each student took home their own WrestleMania Reading Challenge folder and a book.
Woodland West Elementary holds a special significance to WWE. When WrestleMania 30 was in New Orleans, WWE Superstars partnered with KaBOOM! to build a new playground at the school for students. After the Reading Celebration, the Superstars visited the playground they helped build nearly four years ago.
