LOS ANGELES – SummerSlam isn’t just about the action-packed card taking place at the STAPLES Center on Sunday night; it’s about putting smiles on the faces of the WWE Universe. That was certainly the case at Lucky Strike Lanes on Saturday, when WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio met with eight children from Make-A-Wish and their families.
The masked marvel sat down with each of the children to chat, sign autographs and take pictures and do anything he could to brighten their day. The highflying veteran spent one-on-one time with each family, including one from Egypt, and signed each and every piece of merchandise placed in front of him.
"It's incredible. It's hard to describe," the former WWE Champion said. "For somebody to have a wish to do whatever they want or meet whoever they want, the fact that they chose Rey Mysterio is really special. It's a blessing."
The families then enjoyed an afternoon of bowling, food and fun. Mysterio even joined them on the lanes, rolling a few frames with the children, but the fan favorite wasn't as skilled in a bowling alley as he is in squared circle.
"I had to shake a little rust off. It didn't come back to me like I thought it would," Rey said of his return to bowling action. "The kids did wonderful. Anthony, one of the Wish kids, hit a strike today. That made my day."
The wish kids were also welcomed by Los Angeles’ Hard Rock Café on Friday for an unforgettable evening with WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, Hornswoggle and Alicia Fox. The trio also made their way to Lucky Strike Lanes to join Mysterio.
“It’s inspiring,” Fox said of meeting the wish kids. “I’m honored to be a part of it.”
