ORLANDO, Fla. — WWE NXT Superstars and coaches raised more than $8,000 to support the inaugural Special Olympics Florida Plane Pull in Orlando, Fla. Team NXT followed up the fundraising by showcasing their strength in the Nov. 1 test-of-strength competition, which pit 21 teams of volunteers and Special Olympics athletes as they pulled a 50-ton jet in the shortest time.
NXT Superstar Baron Corbin raised the most money both for Team NXT and for the competition with more than $2,500. NXT coach Jason Albert followed with $1,434 raised. Team NXT’s $8,295 was the most raised by any group, which included stiff competition from the likes of local police officers and powerlifters.
The participating NXT Superstars and coaches split into two teams for the Plane Pull, which required each squad to pull the jet 12 feet. The two NXT teams then united at the end of the event to pull the 50-ton jet in only 5.7 seconds.
