WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry, NXT Superstar and former U.S Marine Lacey Evans and WWE Ambassador Dana Warrior showed WWE's support for the U.S. military with a visit to Marine Barracks Washington before attending USO-Metro’s 36th Annual Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C.
Marine Barracks Washington, also known as "8th & I," is the oldest active post in the U.S. Marine Corps. At the Barracks, Henry, Lacey and Dana met U.S. Marines as well as the Marine Corps mascot, Chesty the Bulldog!
After visiting the servicemen and women, Henry, Lacey and Dana represented WWE at USO-Metro's 36th Annual Awards Dinner, a patriotic, black tie affair attended by senior government and military leaders, members of Congress, as well as business and community leaders. All funds generated by this event support the programs of USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore.
In partnership with Military Spouse magazine, the event featured a Special Salute to Military Spouses. USO-Metro presented the 2018 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year Award to Mrs. Krista Simpson Anderson, spouse of MSG Gus. E Anderson IV. USO-Metro’s Legacy of Hope Award was presented to NASCAR for their commitment to U.S. military members and was accepted by NASCAR Vice Chairman and COO Mike Helton, along with NASCAR Legends Richard Petty and Michael Waltrip, as well as current champions Kurt Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. NFL Legend Terry Bradshaw served as Master of Ceremonies.
